PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill, in his address to the nation on Independence Hill, has applauded the country’s achievements in the last 40 years as one that cannot compare with others in the world.
He said everything that has happened in the country’s past has shaped what its future is today.
“We have also seen a lot of changes to our country, much more in recent years. When we all look around us we can see the difference,” the PM said.
“Just a few years ago, of course it has taken a lot of hard years or 41 years of trying to shaping our nation, we are able to continue to have a united country for the good of our children.”
“I think we have achieved more in one generation than any country has in the nations around the world.”
He called on citizens to be proud that government is still able to deliver to the set of promises it made to the nation, but also maintained challenges were still at hand that were out of the government’s control .
“Of course there are thing that are beyond our control, but delivering of basic services to our people is something that is seen as the right of our citizens’ right throughout the country.”
“We are delivering on free education to every child in our country, we are delivering to universal healthcare to all our people, we are improving law and order making streets safer for our women and children, we are also continuing to roll out new infrastructure right across the nation- enabling growth for our economy and delivering basic services to our citizens.”
“We are continuing to transfer power and decision making from Wiagani to the provinces and districts, and even as far as the local level government.”
