Online shopping growth inevitable in PNG

FORTUNA Online Marketing Manager, Atu Huck, says the growth of online retailing in the country will grow with the growth of ICT in the country.

He said that during the sponsored premier of the movie “Jack Reacher 2” in country at the Paradise Cinema at Vision City at Waigani, which sponsored the night through its online customers and fans via its Facebook page.

Fortuna Online is one of the biggest online stores in country and a subsidiary of Vitis Industries, with thousands of members registered to date, with Huck a part of its website creators.

“I built Fortuna two years ago, and now the team is growing with deliveries every day,” Huck said.

“Fortuna is not a new idea- everywhere in the world there is online shopping so it will happen in PNG whether people like it or not.”

“It’s going to get bigger with Fortuna making plans to much bigger than what it is two to three times bigger.”

He said it is vital for the online shop to promote itself considering its existence was one based online that needs online platforms like social networks to provide feedback and promotional events.

“So what happened is we are going to start doing these kind of promotions from now more frequently now and combine both as we also have our corporate clients here tonight as our way of thanking them.”

“And we have people who have played online and won tickets- overall we have more than 50,000 people reached (on Facebook) and a couple on Facebook hundreds played and some won.”

“On Fortuna we have got a few thousand people and 15,000 following on Facebook and more joining,” he concluded.
