POLICE in the nation’s capital have been authorized to use force to stop the recent rioting that had gone out of hand in the aftermath of last week’s clash between disciplined forces.

Governor Parkop warned looters to be aware that the orders have been made for law enforcement to have a zero tolerance approach to those who decide to loot businesses in the nation’s capital.

His comments came in light on the thirds day after the initial incident that had led to considerable losses in business in the city.

“Since my discussions with police hierarchy since Saturday- I have told them that they should have zero tolerance on people looting,” Governor Parkop said.

“That means if we have to deal with people to shoot them to disable them- they have that blessing from me as governor of our city.”

He called on all residents to be mindful of the order and refrain from taking part in the unlawful activity.

“The people are to be mindful that the police are authorized to use firearms to restrain people from unnecessary looting. That should be a warning.”

He added that the military has confirmed that the lootings that have occurred have no connection whatsoever with the issue at hand or military personel.

“I have the assurance from our defense force commander and he has assured me that there are no organized plans by any section of the military to go out and incite people to go out and loot a particular shopping complex using mediums like phone, internets, and the social media to incite people,” Parkop added.

“The business sector has expressed its disappointment at what is happening, and I want to offer my apologies on behalf of our people to those who have had massive property losses.”

“It is regrettable but it happened.”
