MORE than 15,000 Port Moresby residents rose in chorus as one during the country’s 40th Independence Anniversary celebrations as the city was given a treat with the performance of one of the most famous international singing groups in the country.

The Danish Pop/ Rock group, Michael Learns To Rock (MLTR) blew many vocal cords as the Sir John Guise Stadium was shaken to its foundation as every song and verse of all 14 songs sang in over one hour 10 minutes.

Lead singer of the trio band, ‎Jascha Richter, wished the country all the best in its celebrations and the future ahead.

They visited the country back in January, for the first time, performing at the jammed packed Lamana Gold Club where many missed out due to space availability.

“Happy 40th independence day to you all- half a year ago we visited your continent for the first time and we didn’t know that we had many fans here,” Richter told the crowd.

“So it came as a wonderful surprise that you know all our songs. It is so great to be back here again, smiles everywhere.”

The group proceeded to belt out some of their greatest hits that got the crowd out of their seats.

Richter then proceeded to compliment the Port Moresby fans on their singing- something he said in comparison to the next concert destination was superior.

“Compared to the Philippines, your singing is so in tune and sounds so great thank you so much. This is a really great experience.”

After their 11th song performance they proceeded to exit the stage when a huge chorus of “one more (song)”, rang out throughout the stadium, which brought them back to the stage to the delight of the crowd that went up into a frenzy.
