AFTER being launched in July, PNG’s newest and largest online shopping retailer, Fortuna Online, has surpassed the 3,000 registered accounts mark.
The creation of Vitis Industry Limited Managing Director, Dr Sergy Mosin, the online retailer has increased its customer base in just over a month.
Created to tap into the large online market in the country- the service aims to promote local products through online marketing options.
In an interview with Sunday Chronicle, Vitis LTD Director and wife of Dr Mosin, Vicky said that Vitis aimed to bring products to the doorsteps of customers through the use of technology.
“The idea was from my husband because we have been traveling to developed countries and we have seen that with the new technologies available to businesses in the other countries- it is the same technology that it is now taking over in the country in today,” Mrs Mosin said.
“When you look at this idea, it is about bringing the product right to their doorsteps so they do not have to worry about going out to the shops.”
When asked about the response so far, Mosin said that the growth in accounts registered spoke for itself in the need to have an efficient way to purchase good in the country’s major cities.
“The response is very good, because from 100 registered accounts we have increased to 3000 registered accounts.”
“We have had good response since the launch a month ago, and also coming from the manufacturing industry we need this technology to help us sell our products nationwide.”
“We have already signed agreements with some of our manufacturers and distributors, like Pi (Pacific Industries), BNG- they now use our online shopping site to sell their goods, with more and more people are getting online to register to our Fortuna Online.”
Vitis Industries Limited is a company that employs over 600 Papua New Guineans from around the country and the online store is another arm of the group.
