Man charged with penetration of a minor

POLICE have charged a 32-year-old man with penetrating a girl under the aged 10 at Tete Settlement on the outskirts of Gerehu, Port Moresby.  

The accused, who is from Mt Hagan in the Western Highlands Province, was alleged to have lured the victim with the promise of buying her some food at another individual’s home, on May 19.

Upon reaching the other individuals home, the accused then took the victim to another block nearby, into the bushes and sexually abused her.

When she met her mother afterwards and told her what had happened.

 According to the victim’s account to her mother, he lured her away from the communal TV area, abused her and let her go.

The victim identified the accused at the TV area and a fight ensued between the relatives of both parties.

The matter was then reported at the Gerehu Police Station who referred the victim for a medical examination. The accused was arrested and questioned.

He will appear before the Waigani Committal Court on June 19.
