Provincial Allocation comparisons 2015-2016
DESPITE the 2016 National Budget of K14.2
billion having a K613 million cut from the revised 2015 Supplementary Budget-
Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch, in his budget speech to Members of Parliament that
government priorities remain unaffected by cost cutting measures included in
2016 money plan.
He said free education, free primary
healthcare, agriculture, and small to medium enterprise (SME) are core programs
that will continue to have full government support through the capital
expenditure.
Minister Pruaitch also made emphasis on the
importance of continued support to infrastructure programs and law and order
also.
“Funding is also assured to prepare for the
hosting of domestic and international events such as the African Caribbean and
Pacific Group meeting; the 2017 National Elections and APEC in 2017,” he said.
By sector the Provinces received the
largest share of K3.6 billion (26%) of the total budget, Administration K2.5
billion (18%), Health K1.5 billion (11%), Education K1.3 billion (9%),
Transport K1.3 billion (8.8%), Law and Order K1.2 billion (8.7%), Economic
sector K610 million.
He said the policies represented broad-base
economic growth, calling national leaders and public servants to ensure
efficient service delivery and improved livelihoods for those throughout the
country.
