Port Moresby
Nature Park will soon open up new facilities to run alongside its gardens and
animal attractions.
Michelle
McGeorge, General Manager of the park announced this during the presentation of
two new vehicles last week to help run educational programs initiated by the
organization.
“We’ve been
able to make a lot of infrastructure improvements and attractions in such a
short time, since taking over from what was formally known as the Botanical
Gardens” she said.
She gave
details of the facilities to be opened along with the new entry way that will
be behind next to the Port National High School.
Soon to be
completed amenities include a car park, café, souvenir shop, ticketing boots,
flower shop, and soon to follow is a new wallaby exhibit.
“A lot of
things are going on so every time you come and visit your sure to see something
new,” Michelle added.
The general
manger also informed those present that this year alone the park estimates 100,000
visitors to the facility- probably the highest visited attraction in the
country at the moment.
NCDC City
Manager, Leslie Alu praised the management in bringing the park back to its
former glory as one of the main attraction in the city.
He applauded
the support of sponsors who have made it possible for the many extensive
development projects that have taken place in the last year.
Nature Park
is a charitable trust and is under NCDC, which is the custodian to the park.
