The people of Koiari and the MotuKoita in Central province will now see tangible services to benefit them now, through the successful launching of Eda Ranu Foundation last week.

Patron of the Foundation and Governor of Central province, Kila Haoda challenged the resource owners to work in partnership and make the foundation a reality.

“It is my dream as a Motu Koitabuan to see service for the people and I challenge the Koiaris and MotuKoitas to join hands with the foundation in order to benefit from services in health, education and law and order which will in turn contribute economic growth”, he said.

EdaRanu Board Chairlady, Mary Karo said the foundation was set up to meet the socio-economic needs of the resource owners including the disadvantaged and silent sufferers by equipping them with skills and knowledge.

“The Foundation will meet vital areas in community development, particularly skills training among youths of the Koiari and Motu to build themselves up”, she said.

Vice Minister for Public Enterprises and State Investments and Member for Kainantu, Johnson Tuke in his keynote address said the foundation is part of bigger plans for Eda Ranu to extend its services to other parts of the country.

“The Foundation is set up to help our people and must not be political, it should strive to serve the interest of the people”, he said.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop congratulated the Eda Ranu board and management on behalf of the city for the initiative.

More than 200 guests from all sectors filled the Parliament’s State Function Room to officially launch the foundation with the board and management of Eda Ranu.

In working closely with donor agencies, local level governments, faith-based organizations, churches and business houses, the foundation aims to improve the lives of resource owners  by addressing areas in education, training, sports, infrastructure development and others deemed appropriate by the foundation.

Its core values are to promote social and economic benefits in accordance with the national government’s Strategic Medium Term Development Goals and Vision 2050 Policy framework.

Accountability, acquittal and disclosure on the use of donor funds will be handled in the most open and transparent manner while donor agencies, financial contributors and stakeholders will be informed accordingly on programs, projects and activities undertaken by Eda Ranu Foundation.

The Foundation will have a board and chief executive officer to oversee all operations and as a subsidiary to EdaRanu, it will concentrate on serving resource owners on whose land the city stands-MotuKoita and the Koiari people on whose land water is sourced from.

The board of trustees consists of five directors where majority are at least board directors of the founding company, EdaRanu.

EdaRanu hopes that through this entity the dreams and hopes of our resource owners can be realized to contribute meaningfully to the future of our young generation and a better Papua New Guinea.
