NATIONAL Planning Minister Charles Able welcomed the criticism from the Opposition on the 2015 National Budget, however, he refuted claims that the National Government that there was a blowout when responding to the Opposition’s response to the budget.

Minister able defended the working of the budget as one that was worked on by many people in the key departments and that there were bound to be some errors, as not every budget is a perfect one.

“Despite the claims of a blowout, we completely refute those comments- there has been a lot of hard work that has gone into this budget by many people,” Minister Able said.

“I thank the Treasurer, the Prime Minister, and the whole of cabinet, and all the partners of the Alotau Accord.”

“We set an ambitious plan, and that plan was to once and for all rebuild this country, and I can tell you, if there is one thing this government is guilty of, it is guilty of trying to get things done.”

He confessed that it was not easy, and that there were problems with procurement, with putting a budget together, but reminded those that things were happening in the country for once.

“Yes we are guilty of free education, we are guilty of free health, we are guilty of building Moresby, yes, but why didn’t it happen before, with the wealth of this country- it is not easy to put a budget together,” Able said.

“The point I am trying to make is that at least things are starting to happen, and the reality is that this sort of program did not happen before, we are willing to accept criticism and we acknowledge the leadership of the past but we are just trying to point out that this government is trying very hard to get things done.”

“The more you go out their and do things, there is more risks in getting them wrong because you are trying to be proactive.”
