WITH the dawn of the New Year fast approaching- Trukai Industries took time out last week to reflect on the year by hosting its end of year drinks cocktail.
At the event, Trukai CEO Greg Worthington-Eyre announced that the company had experience good growth throughout the 2014 year beyond the predicted levels- with prediction continued growth in the year ahead.
He said that despite one of the most successful year’s experienced in the company- the country was one full of challenges coupled with great opportunity.
“It has often been very difficult but often exciting country called Papua New Guinea since being here for about 18 month,” Worthington-Eyre said.
“It certainly is a land for opportunity if you can grasp it and are prepared to take a few risks and get on with it.”
“The last two years Trukai has become very successful, we are part of Sunrise Group in Australia and are two-thirds owned by Sunrise and one-third owned by Melanesian Trusts Services Limited which is the management Trustee for the Pacific Balance Superannuation Fund.”
“So we are one third owned by over 40,000 Papua New Guineans as well, and for that fund we produce a tidy profit that goes to building their nest of eggs for their future.”
He added that with the positive growth experienced- the company was now set to improve and increase its output from production, products, rebranding, and marketing- adding that special emphasis and increased attention will be placed on their social corporate responsibility programs.
“We have a lot of initiatives in play, one of which is new packaging for our brand- the first time in 15 years first new TV advertising, terrific radio commercials and radio advertising,” the CEO said.
“One of the most important point I can deliver as CEO is our corporate social responsibility program.”
“We have supported a number of health and wellbeing organizations whether they are ladies hospitals or healthcare centers, church related care centers, malaria, TB, and HIV.”
The CEO reiterated the company’s proud association with sports which was the proud supporter for some of the country’s great achievement like the double gold medal wins in weightlifting in the last commonwealth games.
“We are a big player in that with a strong franchise in our sports sponsorships particularly weightlifting with two of our weightlifters lift goal, and we have now come on the back of the PNG Games sponsorship in Lae and currently trying to be active in those sorts of areas.”
“We are expanding in that area because I think it is an area where I think we have a social responsibility to give back to the community.”
