Papua New Guinea Tribal Foundation received a cheque for K200,000 on Monday from the Enga Provincial Government for the supply and delivery of medical equipment to various health facilities in the province.

The contribution will go to the logistical cost to bring each container at a K100,000 per container.

Enga will receive two shipping containers packed with medical supplies supplied via the United States through US non-profit organization, Project C.U.R.E.

Governor for Enga Province Peter Ipatas presented the cheque to Tribal Foundation Board Director, Michelle Hau’ofa in the presence of former PNG Ambassador to the US and foundation board member Even Paki.

“PNG Tribal Foundation is pleased to once again partner with the Enga Provincial Government to improve health service delivery to its people,” said Hau’ofa.

“We have already delivered two 40 foot containers of medical equipment to Enga Province, and this cheque represents two more containers of equipment, the value of which exceeds K2 million.”

She emphasized that the foundation was not political in nature, but had a proactive approach with its success highly dependent on partnerships.

“The PNG Tribal Foundation looks to work with proactive leaders as follow through is critical to our success in impacting service delivery, and Governor Ipatas and his provincial team have proven to be one of the most proactive of our partners,” she added.

This is the main reason we have chosen to place much of our team’s focus and resources on the Enga Provincial Government this year, and we look forward to extending our relationship in the interest of the people of Enga.”

Governor Ipatas thanked the foundation, saying that they were privileged with its work and valued the partnership.

“On behalf of my people and other provinces that have benefitted from this arrangement- I would like to say that this is a good partnership,” he said.

“Enga being remote in PNG, we have been struggling to bring in enough medical equipment for our health establisments.”

“It is a non-profit organization and the K200,000 only cover logistic cost, and to get K2 million worth of supplies means that we are getting true value for our money.”

PNG Tribal Foundation also thanked their partners Mapai Transport, Lae Rotary and Rieback Stevedores for their assistance in clearing and delivering the first two containers to the Enga Province.

Other provinces to have benefitted from the arrangement have been Western Highlands and Hela- with Gulf lined up to follow suit.
