Three big acts to hit Pom

WITH the steady stream of top of the line international acts to hitting the nation’s capital, in the likes of the Cosmopolitan Nigh Club hosting acts like Mampi, Mario, Shaggy, and the recent performance at the Lamana Gold Club of the Common Kings- Port Moresby is set for another host of big name gigs in the months of March and April.

The first will begin next month with some old school R&B for those who grooved through the 90s, with Tevin Campbell- African-American singer, songwriter and actor who will perform on March 7 at the Cosmopolitan.


Campbell released his platinum-selling debut album T.E.V.I.N. in 1991. The album included his highest-charting single to date, "Tell Me What You Want Me To Do", which reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

His double-platinum selling second album, I'm Ready, released in 1993 included two of Campbell's most popular songs, "Can We Talk" which reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the album's title track "I'm Ready" which also reached number 9 on the Billboard in 1996.


Throughout his career, Campbell has earned 5 Grammy Award nominations and has sold an estimated 3 million copies worldwide.


The month of April takes reggae live acts to a whole new level with the arrival of Hawaiian Reggae singer J Boog, who will belt out his well known tracks familiar to PNG fans at the lamina Gold Club like “Lets do it again” and “Sunshine girl”- with ticket prices going at K75 arena floor, presold Black stage K100, and Balcony K150.

To top off the month, the Gold Club will brings in one of the most high profile reggae bands well known in the country and the globe.

UB40 are set to perform on April 12 also at the Lamana Gold Club in an event that is set to be huge considering the huge following the British band has in PNG, with song like “Red red wine”, “Can’t help falling in love”, and “I got you babe”.


The reggae band, formed in 1978 in Birmingham, England has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success.


They had been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984, they were nominated for the British Award for Best British Group.


One of the world's best-selling music artists, UB40 have sold over 70 million records to date- with their PNG performances tickets set to sell at K200 for the Arena floor, Presold K250 Black Stage, and Balcony K300 at the club.
