WITH less than 20 days before the opening of the 2014 Hiri Moale festival to take place in Port Moresby- the organizing committee is calling on the city’s MPs to honour their financial commitments towards the staging of the event.

Set for the September 15 and 16, Festival Committee member Willie Tamarua and Misi Samuel appealed on all the leaders that made public commitments follow through with them.

“We are still awaiting pledges like that of our Governor Powes Porkop who is yet to give some of his pledges, Member for Moresby North-West and Member for Moresby North-East Labi Amaiu,” Mr Tamarua said.

“Their pledges have already been made publically in the presence of many and the media.”

Mr Samuel said that only 60 percent of NCDC’s pledges had already been received, apart from the K100,000 commitment made by Governor.

“NCDC pledged K500,000, from that we have received to date K300,000 of that which is 60% of the pledge,” Samuel said.

“Other than that Governor Parkop pledged K100,000, Michael Malabag pledged K50,000, Labi Amaiu pledged K50,000, and Justin Tkatchenko and Minister Boka Kondra pledged to assist in other ways through their ministries.”

“I am appealing to our good leaders to please fulfill your pledges. It will be appreciated to receive all the funds because we have less than 20 days before our festival will commence.”
