SCHOOLS throughout the Moresby South electorate will all benefit through the support of the Australian Government through its aid program, AusAid.

Member for Moresby South Justin Tkatchenko said in a conference last week that a total of 40 classrooms are currently being built for five primary schools.

“AusAid is building 40 classrooms in the form of ten 4-in-1 buildings for St Francis, Koki, Kilakika, Kaugere, and Fisherman Island primary schools,” the member said.

“All the foundations are complete with the final procedures to get the approvals from the building board, and I believe that the building board will sign off on all the permits for these schools to start work immediately.”

“The Australian High Commission through AusAid has already issued contracts to the builder to build the classrooms and so that is now being processed and ready for the construction.”
Mr Tkatchenko assured parents and students from the respective schools that all 40 classrooms will be completed before the end the year.

“I will make sure that next year all the kids can go to school in brand new classrooms completely fitted out ready for the new schooling year in 2015,” he added.

“The contractors have been given that deadline to ensure that all the classrooms are finished before the end of 2014 and ready for the new school year so there is no interruptions.”
