SINCE the opening of the first cinema in Port Moresby in
over 20 years, the Paradise Cinema at the Vision City mall in 2012- two years
from that Paradise Cinemas have now opened a second multiplex cinema at the new
Stop N Shop Waigani Central Mall last week.
In an exclusive screening session at the new facility, the
media were given a tour of the latest addition to cinema experience for movie
goers in the city.
Besides boasting the latest in digital projection and
surround sound, each of the three cinema rooms can seat at any one time close
to 180 seats per room for a total seating capacity of 539 movie patron.
It also features a food court along with a Hamamas Ples
gaming room to young viewers to have fun as they wait for their choice of
movies.
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholder of Paradise Cinemas,
which are City Pharmacy, PNG FM and the Domodar Brothers Ltd Chairman William
Parkinson said that they were delighted to complete the second phase of the
company’s development.
“Our objective is to be able to provide world class
entertainment for the entire market and we believe we can achieve this with the
launch of the Waigani Central multiplex,” he said.
Built at the cost of K7 million, the cinema is targeted at
the average Papua New Guinean with very affordable rates of K15 for adults and
K10 for children.
With each of the projection screens at 12 by 3 meter,
viewers can expect a realistic cinematic experience in the heart of the
city.
