THE Registrar of Political Parties and Candidates, Dr Alphonse Gelu, confirmed that as of Wednesday (June 4), the four Members of Parliament that called it quits on the Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) Party, had officially made their intensions known to join the ruling PNC Party.

He said that the registry had received letter from Ijivitari MP David Arore,  Sohe MP and Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology Delilah Gore, and Member for Kiriwina-Goodenough and Forest Minister Douglas Tomuriesa, seeking membership with the People National Congress Party.

“The four MPs that decided to leave THE Party; we have received letters from three of them on Wednesday that is Delilah Gore, Douglas Tomuriesa, and David Arore,” Dr Gelu said.

“We have not received anything from Tambul Nebilyer MP Benjamin Popenawa as yet and we will wait for to inform us of such.”

“They have written to PNC that they want to join the party, and have copied me in those letters, and that is basically what we wanted them to do.”

“We are now waiting for PNC to accept them- when they do they will inform us, and when that happens then that is it and the process is complete.”

Dr Gelu said that they would remove their names from THE Party in the listings, which is updated each month, and change the listing to have them under PNC from where they previously were.

“Right now they are still under THE Party, until the situation is changed where PNC accepts them where there will be a form for them to fill then the process will be complete.”
