THEY promised a night of love and energy and they did
not let down all those that attended the charity night concert hosted at the
Cosmopolitan Night Club in the heart of Port Moresby, for the villagers of
Babaka in the Central Province, on Saturday night last weekend.
With DMP warming up the night with their famous
Pacific-Reggae flavour, Kevin Lyttle turned on everyone with his Soca-moves,
performing his famous ‘Turn Me On’ song and other well-known tracks.
But the night’s event reached its peak as the pop diva
Mya, one of the very first top international female artists to perform a
concert in the country, hit the stage in a performance that resembled what many
could only witness in a music video or an overseas concert.
Performing her famous ‘Lady Marmalade’ song, Mya
brought the house down in a sing along frenzy.
Both Mya and Kevin have founded charities with Kevin’s
focusing on combating heart disease, and Mya’s combating breast cancer- she
also established The Mya Arts and Tech Foundation that focuses on empowering
youths.
During their press conference, keen supporter of the
charity concept and Governor of NCD Powes Parkop welcomed both stars along with
DMP.
He thanked them for helping out with the project of
raising funds, at the same time said it was a big statement for the nation’s
capital, which he said was fast becoming must perform city in the region for international
artists.
